My hands by Christopher Onstott for Buddhadharma magazine summer issue 2015

I had a pleasant surprise to see my hands pictured in this summer’s issue of Buddhadharma magazine. Christopher Onstott took this photo while Maitripa College was preparing for HH visit and during our meditation class on emptiness. I am really happy my hands are making their way around the globe tattooed, scarred and with love. Thanks to whomever is responsibile. Cheerfully, M unnamed-4image.aspx

Compound Art Show

Olivia and Mikki have pieces in the Compound Art Show located at 107 NW 5th street.

Opening night was last night.

I heard it was shoulder to shoulder in the gallery being it was Portland Art Walk night downtown.

I am happy they were able to draw folks in to celebrate the opening of the show. I will be going down this week to check out the other artist’s work with Dboy and Kristin.

If you get a chance please go down and check it out. Cheers, unnamed-15unnamed-5

The Royal Tribute

05/08/2015 / Uncategorized / 0 Comments /

I have had the great fortune to have periodically studied under Henning Jorgensen from Royal Tattoo in Helsingor Denmark and to have been included in his anniversary book.

Thirty years Royal Tattoo has been putting out unbelievable works. Helsingor is a quaint little town about an hour train ride north of Copenhagen.

When you leave the train station, there is a town center that welcomes you lined with little shops, as well as the Kronberg castle that Shakespeare had been inspired by when he wrote Romeo and Juliette. Hans Christian Anderson had lived on the same street as the shop. You can tell the is still a essence of Fairy presence thriving to this day. This little town that puts out some of the best tattoos in the world. The weekends transform into a mecca for the Sweds that come over to buy up alcohol that is regulated in their country. It is a trip to watch the change the town goes through each week. I am ever so thankful to have had this experience and to be apart of such a wonderful bunch of folks in this book that share this memory that Henning has offered.

To many more years Henning. Much love and respect, Ms. Mikki

I tattooed the mermaid on Olivia.

PCC Continuing Education classes

All licensed tattooers in the state of Oregon are required to have 10 hours of continuing education credits per year.

5 of those can be from self study, and the other 5 must be from participation in a course organized by accredited institutions.

Thanks to PCC they are giving tattoo artists the chance to take accredited courses so that we can fulfill our license requirements.

Here’s to bettering yourself in the education department, and to anyone continuing their education in the school of life. It’s not all about the degrees.

Go to Pcc.com to look at their calendar for spring.

There are a few tattoo-centric classes coming up in April and May that we should be paying attention to.

Thanks to Dan Gilsdorf for teaching these classes and recommending Olivia Britz-Wheat for the program photo opportunity.

10 Highest Rated Tattoo Shops in Portland

We made it on a list. As some of you know, I am generally not a fan of lists. They always exclude someone who should be on them or are written by people that have nothing to do with our business. And most often they lack the knowledge or experience to make a list accurately honoring those that deserve to be acknowledged. Seldom does a list get made that is well researched. This list however, has been made due to our client reviews and overall standing with clients that we have made happy. So, to you our beloved clients, this one is for you. Thank you for letting us do what we love to do.
